Importance of Food Quality Quality of food in schools is very important, because it pleases the pupils meaning more and more student will be urging their parents to pay to eat the school meals; which will also help the school to receive an increasing amount of funding consequently boosting the school’s economy and allowing the chool to provide more rich quality food and educational equipment.
In addition, the quality of food in schools is essential because if the food is of a high quality it provides nutrients to build the student’s cells including the brain cells which will help all student to become a capTABLE of high work which will set the school to a high standard, especially during the period of exams. It will also motivate/boost student immunity system to be strong and tough resulting to a positive effect towards the students’ individual attendance and the schools overall attendance. However, if the quality of food is poor it can lso affect the students’ response towards the food.
The amount of students eating the schools’ meals will decrease which will have a huge effect on the school. Plus, students that cannot have a packed lunch, but have to have school meals and do not enjoy the food, because of the poor quality (for example the meat hasn’t been prepared to the expected level because it has been undercooked) can become very ill, affect their attendance and in the long run may affect their exam results. Overall the quality of food in schools can contribute to the well-being of student, and the impact it has on them, hether positive or negative.
The Quality of ‘Speed King’ company The quality of Speed King’s food is of an average quality. The ‘Speed King’ company presents food such as sandwiches, fruit, yoghurt, and other snacks with the access to vending machines all day. They also offer the arrangements of one queue for all year groups. This particular arrangement may be frustrating for pupils who intend to buy something to eat because they would have to stand in line so long to reach the front of the queue and at times when they do reach the front of the queue, what they intended to uy may have sold out which annoys students.
This could also prevent students from lining up completely. Other times, teachers may let their students out late to lunch, for one reason or another which will require them to line up towards the back of the lunch queue, whilst students who were let out early would be at the front of the line. On the other hand, the amount of time students have during lunch as a whole won’t be disrupted they would have an appropriate amount, not too long nor too short.
The foods provided are not classified as ‘proper meal’ and may not appeal to all pupils, because upils may want to have a proper meal depending on their individual circumstances. The food will also be very suiTABLE for vegetarians or vegans who may feel uncomforTABLE with proper, cooked meals. Regarding the food, the food provided is of an average quality because the only foods they offer are snacks which is not good for students to be eating continuously everyday. The foods will not always fill the students making them to buy more which may lead to spending more money to fill themselves up.
The idea of vending machines availTABLE all day to all students is a great idea, because it will help tudents who may not have had anything for breakfast, or are just not in the mood to eat something from the canteen. As well as those points, the vending machines can affect punctuality to lessons; because in between classes students may stop buy a snack from one, delaying them to their lessons especially if there is a whole line waiting to get something. Moreover, the vending machines are more than likely to be stocked with unhealthy snacks and drinks, i. . chocolates, sweets (Haribos, gummy bears, wine gums etc. ), fizzy drinks (Coca Cola, Pepsi, 7up, Fanta/Fruit uist, Sprite, etc. ). This will e bad for all students; especially of we are trying to be a healthy school. The vending machine may also cause eating and drinking in class, which is against the school’s rules and may make teachers throw away snacks and drinks in the bin, eventually wasting the pupil’s money. The Quality of’The Real Meal Company Meanwhile, the quality of The Real Meal Company’s food is of a high quality. The Real Meal Company’ presents forward their plans for the canteen. They said they would provide cooked meals, such as pasta, curry, rice, vegeTABLEs, and with special meals for special occasions, for example Valentines Day, St. Patrick’s Day, St. Georges Day, Olympics, Christmas, Chinese New Year, World Cup, etc. They have also offered to serve breakfast and lunch to students; as well as the breakfast and lunch, they have also promised to provide nothing more or less than quality organic food.
They also offer the arrangements of set times for each year group to go to and line up for lunch. The food provided is of a high quality because they have assured to serve organic food, meaning it is natural, there wouldn’t be any chemicals used to grow the food or any chemicals used to treat it leading it to grow in an unnatural way. This is healthy for all student and staff, because it will not contain bad chemicals which could harm vital and critical organs of the body, i. e. your stomach, lungs, liver, kidney, pancreas, and many others etc.
The absence of the chemicals will provide customers Of the canteen to gain the required vitamins and nutrients. The cooked meals ‘The Real Meal Company’ have said they would provide if they are given the opportunity, is a great deal of food, because it consists of a variety of different types of foods, from all the 5 main food groups (Carbohydrates, Protein, Fruit and VegeTABLEs, Dairy, Fat). The range of food, for example pasta, rice and most of the vegeTABLEs belong to the carbohydrates food groups; Carbohydrates are an ideal source of energy for the body.
This is because they can be converted more readily into glucose, (the form of sugar that’s transported and used by the body) than proteins or fats can. The vegeTABLEs that have been promised to be served in the canteen along side the main courses are equally essential as the carbohydrate. Although fruit and vegeTABLEs are low in energy, unlike the carbohydrates, they are packed with vitamins, minerals and fibre, so they’re a reat source of nutrients and vital for a healthy diet.
Statistics show that the population that eat a lot of fruit and vegeTABLEs may have a lower risk of chronic disease, such as heart disease and some cancers; which is what we wants for all members of our school community. In addition, the food such as the curry may vary on what food groups it belongs to depending on the type of curry it is. If it is a chicken, lamb, goat curries them it primarily belongs to the protein and fat section. However if it is a vegeTABLE curry, it would belong in the fruit & vegeTABLE and fat section.
Protein builds, maintains, and eplaces the tissues in your body. Your muscles, your organs, and your immune system are made up mostly of protein. Protein boosting the immune system will also increase attendance in student records because if their immune system becomes stronger, there is a less likely chance of students being off sick regularly. The idea of having special meals on special occasion may be appealing to many students, exciting them to see what the canteen has on offer for them knowing that it would be something different to their usual meals.
This idea will be pleasing to the majority of the canteen sers, whether packed lunch, or school meals. The arrangements of having a set times for each year group may be convenient or not convenient depending on the way the plan is arranged. It may cause teachers to finish earlier, which affects the amount of tome they have in their 3rd lesson. On the brighter side, there would be less hustle, pushing in the line, frustration to be TABLE to get lunch which won’t put pupils off to get lunch. Moreover, the quality of the food offered is of a high standard because of the type of food and the variety provided.
The food ‘The Real Meal Company said they would ffer would enTABLE all members of staff and pupils that would eat from the school’s meals to gain a good portion of nutrient, vitamins and vital sources to boost immunity (prevent chronic diseases), provide energy, builds, maintains, and replaces the tissues in the body; and the arrangements of the set times for different year groups may cause confusion, but may also work well, but that will be determined on the way the arrangements have been arranged.
Eating arrangements Eating arrangements in schools is very important because it determines whether the student will be ready to face up to the rules; the rules will have to e suiTABLE for everyone but at the same time have strict rules. The rules enforced should encourage student to come to the canteen more often by making it a safe and friendly environment to eat and talk in.
Other Issues Equally, both the ‘Speed King’ company and ‘The Real Meal Company’ have not stated that they will offer snacks for vegetarians or vegans, this may be particularly troubling or uncomforTABLE for the students that cannot eat the food provided. For instance this may affect particularly the student who are entitled for free school meals and cannot bring food from home, which equires them have food from school. Therefore think that whatever company we offer the job to we should ask them to provide food also for the vegetarians and vegans.
