For this task I am going to discuss the function of research in my chosen area of interest.

Service user – By highlighting gaps in provision, services users of health and social care services have been given more responsibility and independence, they’ve become more empowered and involved with how services are needed to be improved.

Service provider – By highlighting gaps in provision, services providers such as the NHS are able to see the weaknesses in their practice and can then pick up on things that need improving. Research develops the understanding of the weaknesses and fuel improvement by prevention or fixes that need to be made to the services or systems. Service users help service providers as they have useful alternatives of how to change the problematic issues when receiving care. Service users/general public, play a big role in developing and improving health and social services as they are the main receivers, they know through experience where there is room for change and development.
