The medical sector can be said to be one of the biggest beneficiaries of technology and its subsystems. Various computer systems are in place in the modern world that assists doctors and other medical professionals to carry out their work in a collaborative environment that is enhanced with efficiency and speed of these smart systems. This gross benefit has not come without several challenges. These challenges brought by the same technology that also deserves positive attention. These challenges touch several areas of the medical profession and need to be addressed sooner rather than later. After all, our families, ourselves health status is on the line. Computers and Online Systems: Beneficial? The relationship between technology and productivity in today’s world is not as clear and concise as it could and should be. Computers were designed to improve most processes in the world at a time where automation was not experienced before.
Today, there has been too much automation that it has reached a point where it is no longer productive. The saying that too much of anything is bad certainly rings true today in most professions. The most visible way that automation has been negative is that it has eliminated or limited the human factor (Kudyda, 2016). This has been the main challenge in the current information era, now professionals are merely entering data without thought and no critical thinking. The repetition of data entry becomes robotic. The roles nurses are currently in these newly mandated computerized charting becomes an extra burden. Struggling to provide the proper care and maintaining good assessments leaves minimal charting time. Most nurses stay after their shift to chart. With that said, how accurate is this charting if workloads are heavy? Challenges These challenges as noted in that section of the resource tend to occur a lot of times. They are, in fact, responsible for the negative side of the relationship between technology and the influence on healthcare. In regards to transparency and performance indicators, this is something that the medical field has been reluctant to do while the corporate world undertook it a long time ago.
