I want all of you to imagine a country without enough doctors, shift your vision and imagine a country without enough engineer. Am sure most of you will certainly say that it would be difficult to survive in a country like that, which has few qualified workforces that do not meet the demand of the people. My name is professor John and today I am here to talk about something unique that is might be very essential to our young generations. My idea is to bring to your attention how some of our younger generations fail to meet their dreams of becoming doctors, professors, and engineers through several economic issues beyond their control. I will talk about the challenges faced by the generation and some of the most important aspects of making college education free. I believe by the end of this critical conversation you will understand the major benefits.
College education should be free in order to give that young and energetic boy or girl a chance to pursue his or her dreams. According to professor Spring Joel for the University of Wisconsin-Madison, most of our institutions of higher learning are too expensive that instead of encouraging the youth to pursue a career they tend to demoralize them from joining and achieving their goals. With more people educated I believe it will not only be a success to the individual but to the nation as a whole since after completing their course they will join the already made workforce to will contribute to the economic growth.
Ever wondered why there so many youths in the streets engaging themselves in irresponsible behaviors such as smoking and other irresponsible behaviors instead of learning. To my surprise, I found out that most of these young generations have the capacity to join a higher learning but lacks financial power. That is why am persuading you that free college education will reduce idleness amongst the youth as they will be kept busy learning and expanding their knowledge. This will enhance competitiveness as their main focus will be shifted from thinking about engaging themselves in drugs and substance abuse to learning and making an impact in the society.
I am sure that most of you will enjoy a watching news and seeing a young generation inventing new things through modern technology. But this might just be a dream if we do not make college education free for these bright and intelligent minds. That is why I am emphasizing on free college education. According to Lucas, Christopher J. in the book American higher education, he argues that majority of the youth have the ideas but they do not have that advanced knowledge to turn out their ideas into a reality. That is why we have to motivate them by offering them an opportunity to expand their knowledge.
Some of our major companies have recently been forced to outsource employees from other nation. This is because they find it difficult at times to get enough manpower in our own country. It’s my appeal that this can be reduced if we make college education free for our generation. We will have more than enough workforce to propagate the formal and informal sector in our country. Consequently ,it will earn a good reputation for our country as we will set a good pace and become an exemplary reference to other nations who will also want to emulate our ideas.
As I conclude, we all agree that the less fortunate and the disadvantaged students will get equal opportunity and upgrade themselves if college education will be offered free to them. The visions of our young generation will not only be a dream but a reality. Idleness amongst the youths will have also been reduced drastically as argued by Webber, Douglas in the book are college cost worth it. The economy of the country will also improve as a result of creativity and job creation once the idea is put into actions. Also, the major public and private companies in our nation will have more than enough trained experts in the different field which will make them more profitable. That is why am fully convinced that we should make college education free.
