I always wanted to become a teacher. The main reason for this is that I want to do something to help the community, and give back some of the privileges that I enjoyed. Some of these privileges included a great education, and caring teachers. Everyone has gotten to where they are in life because they had a teacher. By definition, a teacher is someone who gives instruction and communicates skills. The lives most impacted by teachers are those of our children. Teaching makes a difference in children, because it gives them tools to help them be successful in the future. I could see myself accomplishing this task through teaching.

I feel that a lot of schools in the community need hard working, caring, and responsible teachers, and I want to become a part of it. I believe that to become a teacher, your heart really needs to be in it and you need to be committed and dedicated. I will constantly think of ways on how to improve things and how to help my students when I become a teacher. I have the motivation, and the potential to become a teacher. I feel I have a real enthusiasm for teaching as well as a great deal of patience, which I believe is an important quality to hold when working with children.

In this way, I will be influencing the futures of our next generation in a positive way. I have previously volunteered at Wicomico middle school in Salisbury, MD for 2 years. I have tutored them in the (WISE) afterschool program and the (WISE) summer program. I’ve built a great relationship with all the students, and I enjoyed my time working there and helping students out, who were in need of help with their math and other subjects. Through this volunteering experience, I learned a lot of things. Most important was the behavior aspect of children.

I completely understand how to motivate students, and how to get them interested in the coursework. Their enthusiasm and motivation is the key to a better future generation. Our children are our future, and they need to be prepared for the future in order to be successful in the working world. The future of our communities lies in the hands of our children. The quality of men and women we develop will impact the future of this nation. Therefore, I see teaching as one of the best ways I can help create a greater tomorrow for our great nation.
