The attacks on September 11, 2001 transformed the United States. Several of individuals took an oath to enlist in the military. The two wars took countless casualties and injuries as well. This organization was formed as a result of the injured soldiers. “What started as a program to provide comfort items to wounded service members has grown into a complete rehabilitative effort to assist warriors as they recover and transition back to civilian life” (“Mission,” 2011). Individuals began to respect the sacrifices that the men and women of the military make every day that they are in uniform. With this the members of the organization felt that these military personnel should receive the appropriate help. Wounded Warriors Project began a social initiative.
One of their purposes is “To raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members” (“Mission,” 2011). Several of military personnel are aware of this program. Any amount of donation is welcomed by anyone. Different events hold races to help raise money for organizations. Tough Mudder is a race event that does this. The events are held within different cities throughout the world. The race consists of completing over a dozen obstacles that stretched out over nine miles. All of the money raised by Tough Mudder is given to the Wounded Warriors Project. The Civilian Military Combine and Spartan Race are other race type of events that raises money for organizations like the Wounded Warriors Project. The ethical effect that the Wounded Warriors Project began is unbelievable. Their hard work and dedication to help others is amazing. Members of this organization take time out of their days to assist an injured soldier that they do not know. There are some individuals who are injured but not physically. Soldiers are coming home with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Reported PTSD has gone up since the beginning of the two wars. The experiences overseas have stuck with the soldiers and need help dealing with this disorder. Then at times a soldier would just need another soldier to speak to about their experience. Individuals become involved with stories from others. The Wounded Warriors Project touches the ethics of each individual that helps with donations. The soldiers that come back injured from the war deserve the help that they have earned. The people in the United States are thankful for their unselfish service and protection. The most they can do is donate even if they can only donate a dollar.
