The Bubble Cluster has main idea or objective of the writer written in the middle of a page and enclosed in a bubble known as the main bubble. This then branches out into bubbles within the page that list other ideas related to the main idea. This gets slightly confusing as ideas expand on paper and should only be used in the earliest stages of topic development.
The Spider Diagram uses your main idea as the title of the paper. Similar to the bubble cluster method in many ways, it varies by using connecting lines for various ideas. This method tends to run away from the writer as the topics expand. It is very hard to trace later on and should only be used for simple topics.
Outlines are one of the most commonly used prewriting methods. This is easiest to follow and keep track of because of the easily identifiable numbers and alphabet per idea. This should be used mainly because of the ease by which sub topics and ideas can be added to the prewriting stage.Line clusters are similar to Outlines and has 3 steps to be followed.
These steps are:
- Listing your ideas,
- Categorizing or grouping your ideas
- Labeling each idea by category.
Using this method, a student can easily follow the flow of his researches and pre-writing topics.The Columns are easily understood as the writer uses a topic divided chart in which he first lists down his main ideas in the first row, then the 2 objects or ideas to be compared are listed in the second row but divided into 2 columns, and then in the third row that is also divided into 3 columns, the rest of the writers ideas and topics are listed.
