The artist that’s inside of all of us! My mom always told me that “It’s not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness. ” So what makes people happy, what helps them enjoy life? Becoming an artist’s means different things to different people, you can become a painter, a dancer, a musician, a designer, an actor and so much more. Being an artist means following your heart and not listing to criticism from others. It’s what makes us who we are; it makes us comfortable, brings us peace during hard times and can put a smile on our face during a dark day.
There are no limitations on what becoming an artist means. There is no book or law telling us what we have to become, or what we have to do with our lives. Express yourself, don’t be afraid to go wild and do things that others may think are crazy. We all have an artist inside of us, yes we may be afraid to show that side, yet it is important that we do because it will bring us true happiness and may bring happiness to others. So why become an artist? First we have to answer the question how are we artists. The answer is by doing what we do best, doing what makes us happy, by showing others the talent or talents that we have. Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful. (Schweitzer, Albert, Managing Business Ethics, 63). ” Becoming an artist opens up so many doors and opportunities, it gives up the strength to break down was that we put up! Before we may have ignored a once in a lifetime opportunity because we were afraid to take a risk, but now with confidence and motivation from understanding our artistic abilities, we are less afraid to go out of comfort zone and try new things.
A prime example of this is was during WWII. The Jewish community had all of their rights and freedom taken away from them; they were not allowed to express their religion or beliefs in any way. They were given nothing, yet they still helped one another by using their own artistic talents. Those who could cook helped cook for the entire camp, those who could fix clothes made sure that the community was warm during winter. Each and every person that was in one of those horrible camps realized their own individual talent and put the talent to use as best as they could.
The next question is how am I, myself an artist? That is a question that only we can individually answer. We can be an artist through dance. I, personally, love to dance! My emotions can be expressed through moves that flow with the beat. There are also many different types of dance so that we can express different emotions through different styles such as; ballet, ballroom, show tune, freestyle, group, etc. Dancing by ourselves or with others helps us connect to one another, it helps up get rid of stress and pain, and it brings joy and hope.
But that is only a few ways that dance speaks to me, it’s different to every artist. I am also an artist through music! Singing music and producing music helps by bringing peace and joy to not only myself, but others as well. Becoming an artist through music is one of the most common career paths. Music and lyrics are made up of feelings and expressions; they contain stories, answers to questions, solutions to problems, and helps us feel like we’re not the only one struggling through a problem.
Music is such an important part of our lives, and if it were to disappear, our emotions would disappear with it. Through music we can speak how we individually feel and not be judged. By understanding what types of music we like, we can get a general idea of what kind of person you are, and can start trying to connect with that person. An artist is not always just one talent; it is a collection of talents that help express or explain who you are. Just like me, I express my ideas and emotions through different talents that I was given.
So why become an Artist? We all have an artist inside of us; there is not a single person in the entire world who can say that they are not an artist. We are all born with talent; we are all given something that makes us different from everyone else. Becoming an artist is not just a want; it is a necessity to help us during our time on earth. By working with the talents we were given, we are able to express our emotions easier, we are able to let our mind run free, we are able to find and understand ourselves better.
Also by becoming an artist’s we will be able to find a job that suits us, find a significant other who we can relate to and can please us. There are no negatives in becoming an artist because we can do what we want to do, yes people may judge and have their own opinions but they aren’t us, they don’t know what makes us happy, only we do. Becoming an artist means finding true happiness, understanding that it’s not the material goods in life that make us happy, but the people we meet, the things we do, and the way we do them that brings true happiness.
I promise you that when you become the artist you have been called to become, things will be easier for you; there will be less struggle in decision making, you’ll have more motivation and strength than ever before, and your confidence will sky rocket. After everything I said above the main point that I want you to get is that, becoming an artist is not following dreams, not becoming something you’re not, its understanding your talents, using them to the fullest and finding true happiness.
We all have an artist inside of us, yes we may be afraid to show that side, but that’s natural. “Exert your talents, and distinguish yourself, and don’t think of retiring from the world, until the world will be sorry that you retire. (Samuel Johnson, Personal Growth and Self Development Quotes). ” We were all given individual talents and different artistic skills, put them to use, make sure others know what we can do, and understand what others can do.
We only get one life in this world, why not be happy during our time, and do what we do best!
