Choosing to return to school is often regarded as one of the most difficult decisions you will ever encounter.
Just like purchasing your first home or car, going back to school involves weighing factors such as the amount of debt you’ll incur and finding time and patience after a long day at work. The reasons for my decision to return to school encompass being unable to secure a high-paying job despite holding two degrees, desiring to broaden my career opportunities, and striving for an improved life for my daughter. I firmly believe that obtaining this degree will empower me to accomplish these aspirations and beyond.
School has always been easy for me, like walking through a peaceful park. After graduating high school in 2005, I followed my passion and enrolled at Moultrie Technical College to get my CNA license. Becoming a doctor has always been my ultimate goal, and obtaining this license provided valuable knowledge about the medical field.
Realizing that my current profession was not a good fit for me, I chose to obtain a Business Administration Diploma and a Website Design diploma from East Central Technical College. These careers brought me great fulfillment. However, in my local area, it is challenging to find high-paying jobs in these fields due to limited opportunities. As a result, I have decided to pursue a bachelor’s degree because most positions in my industry require at least a bachelor’s or master’s degree, regardless of previous experience.
My objective is to improve my job opportunities and secure stable employment with attractive benefits by acquiring a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. Obtaining this degree demonstrates my readiness to start at an entry-level position within a company and work hard for significant achievements without taking any shortcuts. I have a desire to establish my own business, and by enrolling in these courses, along with the ones I have already finished, I will acquire the necessary knowledge required to succeed in the competitive business world. I firmly believe that investing in education will result in substantial rewards and validate the considerable effort exerted.
My 10-year-old daughter views me as her role model and greatly admires my determination and perseverance in pursuing my education. She sees me as her superhero, knowing that I will always prioritize her well-being as a single mom.
On a daily basis, I support my daughter in her homework to highlight the significance of prioritizing school and consistently reinforce the importance of education for achieving success. Obtaining my degree from Ashford University will open up countless opportunities for me, which serves as powerful motivation driven by both my daughter and the potential it holds for my future.
Going back to school and earning my degree will provide me with numerous advantages. These include obtaining employment that offers improved compensation and benefits, broadening the scope of career options accessible to me, and ultimately enhancing the overall quality of life for both myself and my daughter. I strongly believe that knowledge is essential in life—an idea that deeply resonates with me on a daily basis.
