An Iambic Pentameter is Iambic pentameter is a meter in poetry, consisting of an unrhymed line with five iambs or feet (hence pentameter), felt by many to be the most powerful of all metrical forms in English poetry. When read aloud such verse naturally follows a beat.

The effect Of having an iambic pentameter is it creates a dramatic effect on certain words, stressing them. My evidence to support this is; “Double, double, toil and trouble. Fire burn and cauldron bubble.” It may appear like a normal rhyming sentence, but if you think of it like this. “DOUble, DOUble, TOIL and TROUble. Fire burn and CAUL dron BUbble.” You can see how when spoken aloud you stress certain words or parts of words. The reason for this is to emphasises the rhyme and to make the sentence memorable.

“Yet who would have thought the old man to have had so much blood in him?” “O, full of scorpions is my mind, dear wife! Thou knows that Banquo and his Fleance lives.”
Of course Macbeth doesn’t really mean his head Is full of scorpions. He means his head is full of so much guilt.
“After life’s fitful fever, he sleeps.
