I would love to spend most of my summer working in a museum because museums have always been a huge source of inspiration for me, and being surrounded by artists and art for such a long time will really motivate me to create more art at home. Art can be a way to express your perspective on the world, and being around people with such unique perspectives will not only be an eye-opening experience, but it will motivate me to look at the world in different ways through my photography, and through other types of art, and improve me as a person in general. I’ve never quite had the time to go to museums as often as I’d like to, but now, with this summer program, I’d have the opportunity to spend a good amount of my summer doing something I’d really love to be doing, and, I’d be getting the chance to do it with people who love it as much as I do.
This internship will contribute to my current goals by giving me new ideas and enhancing my own art. Some of my goals include finding other was to express myself and meeting new people that I can share interests with. I mainly do photography, but by doing this program, I’d be able to experiment with many different types of art and learn from experts. This experience will introduce me to new things and improve my skills in general so I can express myself better. I think that it is really important to surround yourself with people who you share interests with, and that is one of the many reasons I’d love to be a part of this program, the chance to discuss art and make art with other people will really help me grow as an artist. This program will contribute to my future goals by helping me find new types of art I’m interested in pursuing and educating me on careers available. Art has become a very important part of my life over the years, and even though I’m not completely sure what I want to do as an adult, I know that right now, a career in arts is what I see myself doing, and this program will help me look into that and maybe even give me a clearer idea of my future. I don’t know as much as I’d like to about careers available, and this program will teach me more.
Some experiences and skills that I would bring to the Artslife internship would be that I’ve taken art classes for the most of my life, I’ve had a lot of experience collaborating with others and being in an artistic environment, and because of that, I’m very cooperative. In every photo class I’ve taken, we’ve had critiques for our photographs, and because of this, I am good at having conversations about art.
All in all, the Artslife program seems like a dream come true. I would love to participate in it, and I hope I get accepted. I didn’t have any idea what I’d do this summer, thinking I’d probably spend most of it bored, but then I discovered Artslife, and it is the perfect mix of actually doing activities and learning about what it’s like working at a museum.
