Rosa Parks is a strong minded person who had stood up for what she had believed was right. Rosa Parks is an individual who has significantly made the world a better place as she was someone who want to get rid of racial segregation in the year 1956. Rosa Parks had instantly become an icon, when her resistance had been a natural extension of a lifelong commitment to activism.
Rosa Parks had joined the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People which had been working towards putting an end to discrimination and segregation. What Rosa Parks had done was a bold and powerful move as she had stood up for herself by not giving up her seat to a white man on the bus, despite being arrested due to her relentless decision she had made history that day which had changed not only her life but also the lives of other coloured individuals.
Rosa Parks is an important individual who has made a significant difference in people’s lives. This being that Rosa Parks had changed the equal rights of coloured people while both on the bus but also in everyday public facilities. She had created equal opportunities within business and educational purposes for those of colour. Parks had also helped fight for black people’s freedom and for equal treatment of people regardless of their race.
Through this constant fight for equal rights done by Rosa Parks it had resulted in changing the world as now in the 21st century everyone despite their race or colour people are able to access and use public facilities without being separated from those who are ‘white’. Parks is continuously a source of encouragement and leadership for not only our generation but the many more to come.
Many people had depicted Ms Park’s role within the boycott as someone who was just a seamstress who simply did not want to move due to her being tired after a days worth of work, but later on Ms Rosa Parks had denied this accusation and many years later had revealed what her true motivation was to not stand up for the white man while on the bus that day, her motivation was; “People always say that I didn’t give up my seat because I was tired, but that isn’t true. I was not tired physically, or no more tired than I usually was at the end of a working day. I was not old, although some people have an image of me as being old then. I was forty-two. No, the only tired I was, was tired of giving in.” Rosa Parks had gotten involved as she was extremely tired of the inequity that many Black Americans had faced during this time and the constant segregation and mistreatment which they were constantly faced with.
Rosa Parks was someone who did a combination of all three this being work, vocation and leisure. Work is the activity of involvement of mental and physical effort done in order to achieve a purpose or a result. Vocation is the strong feeling of sustainability for a particular career or occupation and leisure is the time when one is not working or occupied this is generally done during their free time.
Rosa Parks is someone who was dedicated to what she did and was strongly passionate for everything she had done, in order to create an equal world for those of colour. Ms Parks was someone who worked significantly hard not only in creating an environment and where there had been equal rights but in general in everything she did. Parks was involved in a variety of organisations and groups these including The Civil Rights Movement and The Montgomery Bus Boycott. Throughout the Civil Rights, Parks had become the Mother of the modern day civil rights movement, this movement was a mass popular movement which was to secure African Americans to equal access of and opportunities for the basic privileges and rights of U.S. citizenship. The Montgomery Bus Boycott is a civil-rights protest which was when African Americans had refused to ride city buses in Montgomery, Alabama, to protest segregated seating. The boycott had taken place from December 5, 1955, to December 20, 1956, and had been regarded as the first large-scale U.S. demonstration against segregation. Parks was someone who was dedicated to what she did and was strongly classified as someone apart of vocation. Rosa Parks is classified to be apart of vocation as she had a strong feeling of doing what was right and this for her was to create an equal world which didn’t segregate those of colour to those who are white. Ms Parks had been classified as she had allowed what had been within her to finally come out and had acted upon this situation to come for her naturally, even though her decision had been made rationally and on the spot, it had been shown throughout her childhood that she was a person who stood up for herself. Parks had been classified as leisure as even though she was able to be working normally, she had taken time out of her day to work towards creating equality for those who are of colour and creating a society where there had been no segregation.
Galatians 3:28
28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Through this scripture it shows how equality is met despite your gender, social position or nationality. This scripture significantly shows how we are seen as equals in God’s sight, this is something Rosa Parks strongly wanted as she wanted everyone to be equal despite their race.
John 13:16
16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.
This scripture passage links to Rosa Parks as due to her being African American she was looked down upon due to the colour of her skin. This lead to those who were ‘white’ believed that they had greater power not only over Rosa Parks but also anyone who had coloured skin. The scripture shows that no one is higher than others and that we are all unified as one and are equal despite our differences in race.
