People are discussing the driving age for teenagers. I don’t know why we should lower it. I think its important to keep it at 18 years of age . possibility of parents losing control over their children, the immaturity of teenagers, and the history of the teenagers’ accidents and deaths are the main reasons. Statistics show that people under 18 are more likely to die than older people When teenagers under 18 take driving licenses parents will not be able to guide them. Most of these children are in high school or in college; they tend to be looking for freedom. As soon as they get their driving licenses.
Children are at the age of 15 or 16, they do not have enough experience in life and without their parents’ guidance, these young people can easily go in wrong directions As we know teenagers are not good drivers because they tend to be childish and less mature. Garry Boulard said in his article “inexperienced teenagers are usually more distracted than other drivers and they are less likely to react quickly to the dangers on the road. ” Also, young people are known to be adventurous. As soon as they sit behind the wheel, they tend to show off and speed up. This is particularly true of young men.
They are prone to take risks. In addition, drivers under the age of 18 distract themselves while driving with various activities, such as messaging, watching videos, and even reading books. Many studies done by Geico, an insurance company, show that drivers between the ages of 15 and 18 are more likely to use the phone while driving than older drivers. Using the cell phone has caused many accidents . Finally, the most important point is the high number of accidents and deaths of teenagers because of driving. Statistics have shown that teenagers have a higher chance of accidents.
According to American Automobile Association (AAA) studies conducted between 1995 and 2004, crashes that involve 15 to17-year-old drivers took the lives of 30,917 people nationwide. It also showed that during the decade of the 1990s, 63,000 youngsters between the age of 15 and 18 died in traffic crashes. This means that more than 120 children die every week. In conclusion, there are many reasons why people under 18 years of age shouldn’t get their driving licenses. The possibility of parents losing control over their children, the immaturity of teenagers, and the history of the teenagers’ accidents and deaths are the main reasons.
Statistics show that people under 18 are more likely to die than older people. Those accidents could not only kill those teenagers, but also can take the lives of many innocent civilians. Many people’s lives might be in danger by giving those immature people licenses to drive. The government should think about the huge risk of giving these children license to drive. Changing the driving age is unreasonable I think. I am not saying that there is good in changing it. I am just saying that it isn’t the best way to go. It gives teens freedom.
I think it’s unreasonable because some sixteen-year-olds are responsible and can handle themselves. I think that there are crazies in every age when it comes to driving. I see so many middle aged and older people driving like mad people. They act as if nothing bad can happen to them. I also believe that there is really no difference in an eighteen-year-old and a sixteen-year-old when it comes to driving. I am not saying that they aren’t maturer. I am basically saying that a twelve-year-old can be a good driver. Changing it from sixteen to eighteen is not a drastic step.
Maybe changing it to like twenty is different, but not eighteen. Most sixteen when they drive start out driving all right. When they get to seventeen and eighteen they may drive a little crazier but mostly they don’t change I also believe that teens being able to drive help them be more respectful people. I think that most of the people that get their driving license are responsible. I mean there are some bad apples, but every kid is not a bad apple. Having cars also keeps teens from hanging around places. If you have a car you don’t have to walk everywhere or bum a ride from your friends mom or your mom.
It gives you a feel of confidence knowing that you can drive. In conclusion I think it’s unreasonable because some sixteen-year-olds are responsible and can handle themselves. I believe that there is really no difference in an eighteen-year-old and a sixteen-year-old when it comes to driving. I also believe that teens being able to drive help them be more respectful people. Most people should believe the same way I do, especially teens. The question about raising the minimum age for a driving license has been pushed to the headlines because of the growing amount of automobile accidents.
Whether it would reduce or even prevent accidents of this sort or will simply do no good is the heart of this argument. The reason for wanting to raise the driving age is because it has been proven that teenagers have caused most accidents. The argument is a big decision . but I believe that it shouldn’t be lower than 18 because teenagers are not responsible enough to have the privilege to driver. The accident reports show that the highest rate age in accident is 15 to 17-year-old. The direct concern is over 16 and 17-year-old drivers if they are responsible and experienced enough to drive on the road.
I believe the sky rocketing increase in teen accidents may increase if the driving age lower under 18. Teenagers between the ages of 16 and 17 years of age are more prone to get in a car accident then an 18 or 19-year-old driver. There is a small percent of teens on the road that obey the traffic laws, but there are many teen drivers that are reckless and showoffs. They rather gamble their life away drag racing down the freeway or down the street then acting responsible and mature while driving. Data show that 16-year olds are the most dangerous drivers on the road. According to government statistics, 16-year-old drivers:
Now I believe that teenager should be 18 years old before receiving their license is because at the age 16 they’re still in high school, they’re immature and they’re not responsible enough to be able to drive. Usually at this age a teenager has other things on their mind like friends, hanging out, partying, etc. You hear of so many car accidents involving teenagers ranging from 16-17 years old where an innocent person lost their life because of carelessness. I’m not saying that all 16 year olds are irresponsible because there are some that are responsible. It’s just at this age they’re basically still kids. If you hand a 16 year old the
