The painting titled the Balloon was painted by Julien Dupre a French artist from Paris, France. Mr. Dupre painted The Balloon in 1886. The Balloon was painted with oil on canvas. Canvas is an extremely heavy-duty plain-woven fabric used for making sails, tents, marquees, backpacks, and other functions where sturdiness is required. It is also popularly used as a painting surface, typically stretched, and on fashion handbags and shoes. Modern canvas is usually made of cotton, although historically speaking, it was made from hemp. Canvas comes in two basic types: plain and duck.
The painting portrayed a group of peasants in the field looking up at a hot air balloon in the sky. The painting was painted in the late 1800’s , a time when oil paints in tubes became widely available. The painting consists mostly of dull blues and greens as did most paintings of that time. During that time there wasn’t bright colors to use most of the colors used were blues greens and beiges. Due to the laws of perspective the further back it goes it loses contrast and appears bluer I chose this piece of art The Balloon by Mr.
Julien Dupre because I like the artists technique and the color scheme he used I also like realistic art The way I see this painting is the farmers who are ordinary people distracted by a hot air balloon with much interest and fascination because during that time things like hot air balloons were only for the people of the rich class or used for government and military purposes The Balloon by Julien Dupree is an excellent work of art that portrayed the life of peasants during the late 1800’s. in doing this report I learned more about the techniques and colors used during that time.
