There are many opinions about Alexander the Great effect on his world. One opinion was that he was a leader who had positive effects on his empire as I would agree. However, there are others who feel that he was a cruel leader which I would disagree about but there are many explanations for why. Deeply admiring others’ beliefs he spread ideas to unite different people in his empire. Understanding all of the different languages one of the circumstances as a Greek soldier was that all of them must speak Greek so that everyone could understand the same language. Building new Greek-style cities was one of Alex’s. goals of many which he accomplished, Reaching his other goals by having marketplaces temples, and theaters throughout most of the different cities in his empire. Inspiring loyalty to the people he had conquered he used religion to unite his empire.
Showing equivalent rights to both Greek and Persia god he built temples to honor those gods . visited oracle cities and made sacrifices. Wanting to be accepted although being of the son of Zeus. Alexander the Great promoted he was a god. Showing respect for others could be a pointer for wanting to people to be apart of your empire and that is exactly what Alex. did. he showed respect for all of the people he had conquered. Alex, wanted to take over Persia 334 B.C.E and invade Asia minor. Those who surrendered to him would get help Alex adopted the Persia system of government. For example, Alex demanded all of his visitors greeted him with Persia costume to illustrate that, it would be by having them kneel down and he lift them by the shoulders and welcomes them.
He also wore Persia style clothing and built-style temples. Without a doubt Alex encouraged marriage between Macedonia and Persia in fact he married King Darius’ 3’‘1 daughter. Although others believed that he was not the greatest at leading his empire by some of the things he did. In fact to prove that Alex took land away from others who didn’t surrender would get their cities burned to the ground and was old into slavery. For those who didn’t surrender didn’t believe that they shouldn’t have to just go with what Alex wanted so instead they stood their ground. As you can see there are many sides and opinions on how Alexander the Great being a leader. In your opinion which side would you pick?
