On a stormy night, the sky growled and men shuttered in their huts. On that rainy day, when the sea would not quit, I finally remember the story of the oyster conference. The oyster conference is a gathering of oysters from all over the world, where they decide who will possess the powerful pearl. These pearls are not ordinary; they were created by the pillar, which granted power before man’s arrival. Unfortunately, the pillar no longer exists due to man’s carelessness. To maintain order among the oysters, they gathered all the pearls created by the pillar and cursed them. If a person finds one of these pearls in a leader oyster, it would bring destruction to the finder and return to the sea.
This conference I mentioned is a combination of positive and negative experiences for all the oysters. There is both success and failure present at every turn. The competing oysters are tested, and those that remain must continue until only one oyster remains. For the first time in history, more than three tests had to be conducted. The final contenders were Chuck, who was favored by the group, and Tinagel, who was an outcast. Eventually, Chuck managed to manipulate his way into obtaining the powerful pearl, which he would have to give up the following year. Despite knowing this, Tinagel envied Chuck and devised a plan to poison him and steal the pearl. Over the next few days, Tinagel gathered all necessary equipment and materials for his scheme. Once prepared, he discreetly delivered the poison to Chuck without arousing suspicion.
One overlooked fact by Tintagel was the power of the pearl, which instead of killing Chuck, made him sick and mentally unstable. Consequently, he starts to disconnect from reality and instills fear in the oysters. Troubled by his actions, Tintagel departs from the colony and is never seen again. Meanwhile, on the farm, they continue to exterminate Native Americans. Oops, wait a moment. Now let’s return to our story. Eventually, Chuck finds himself utterly alone as nobody wants anything to do with him or even go near him until his year is up. Suddenly, another man emerges with intentions to harm the oysters. The group of oysters gather in their hiding places while Chuck remains seated without understanding why this aggression is happening when they’ve never harmed anyone before.
The clan attempts to attack him, but it is too late and a few minutes later his apologetic body is thrown back into the sea. The pearl, referred to as The PEARL, is now missing. The clan becomes anxious and wonders if the curse is indeed real. Progressing towards the conclusion of acclaimed author John Steinbeck’s book, the oysters still ponder how to recover the pearl when suddenly it reappears amongst them. Its arrival goes unquestioned and the pearl gets buried until Chuck’s term concludes and a successor is identified. This may not be an exceptional tale, yet it marks only the inception. I do not claim any moral or excitement in narrating this story; however, it provided me with valuable writing experience that should not be disregarded. It taught me the significance of perseverance even when I lacked any desire to engage with this project at all. I trust you enjoyed my writing style and contemplate subscribing for future prequels to these seemingly ordinary books.
