When you read poems/stories like this you expect to learn something amazing and life changing but with this one I don’t think there’s a huge moral. Just some idiots sailing a boat. It begins with the crew and captain on their boat, they see the bird of luck. They all get super happy and excited, they were so happy to be blessed by the bird and to have good luck. Then out of nowhere this dude shoots the bird, no good reason, actually no reason at all, but he still did it. The crew gets all mad and is like dude what is wrong with you the bird just blessed us why did you kill it. This of course makes a chain reaction of bad things. The crew makes him wear the bird around his neck so he can be ashamed, although I don’t think it works. He ends up getting the whole crew in trouble somehow they get punished for what he did. The goddess of death or something comes and kills all of the crew except the dude who shot the bird. Makes no sense but ok. The dude ends up suffering having no food or water, not being able to communicate with a living being. Eventually his punishment ends he gets back to his home land and all is good. Except I don’t think that the crew made it which is super unfair. It wasn’t very clear on whether they survived or not. If they didn’t survive then that doesn’t really make sense. They were the ones who were like dude why did you do that are you stupid, so if they did kill the crew then they killed the only people trying to prevent him from being stupid. Anyway maybe the moral of the story is don’t be greedy, or if you are on a ship with your crew and you see a bird fly by don’t shoot it. Either way I don’t think I enjoyed this read.
The storyteller is a different issue. Has he never interacted with a human before. He stops these poor wedding guests and makes them listen to a story that has nothing to do with them. If I were those wedding guests and this random dude was like hey come listen to this story even though you have an important event to attend I would run in the opposite direction. He was on something or crazy, either way this poem makes no sense.
In the end the read was interesting and confusing. There is no point to it and no moral. I would not recommend someone to read this, unless they want to read a pointless story. I think the way that they write is really cool even though I couldn’t understand it and had to use the translation. I don’t think i am a good person to analyze poems because I don’t read them ever, so I don’t really have a right to say whether it’s good or not. I don’t get the bigger picture or maybe i’m not deep enough to understand these things. My life hasn’t been changed but I can at least say I gave it a shot.
