According to the writer’s duty, the duty of an author is to transmit compassion, pity, sacrifice, pride, honor, hope, courage, and love. The three stories we are reviewing in class: Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech, An American Childhood and The Road from Coorain.

The three stories show love, by expressing their love to writing, also in their family. In Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech William Faulkner informs that you need to love what you do to make it right and that’s what every author needs to do. In An American Childhood Annie Dillard shows love and honor to her parents, but giving more details with her feelings to her mother. In The Road from Coorain Jill Ker Conway insisted her mother a love of book and learning making hope for her.

The three stories transmit also courage; in the form the authors express their feelings and expectations in every moment. Such as in Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech William Faulkner demonstrates courage by telling all the writer’s what are the keys to intensify their works or duties. In the story An American Childhood Annie Dillard shows the bravery when she changes of hometown, which is something really fearless. In The Road from Coorain Jill Ker Conway shows courage because she says that she will take care of her mother no matter what happens.

The three stories envelop using hope, because the authors have the desire to do what they love in the certain meaning of writing, the hope they express is what they felt in the development of their stories. They use compassion, so the reader will concern of what is happening in the story, showing the conflicts in the different events on the story. Certainly is what the readers want to see in a story. They also show pride; by the way they explain their feelings and affections in every story, also covering the moments that are important.

They show honor, on every single work they have done in literature, also in the events they confront in the stories they wrote. They transmit their sacrifice, explaining what they have done to get where they are. Demonstrating that you will suffer in life, but you will gain something with a big value. At last, they show the pity, giving the sorrow, suffer, and the tragedy’s feelings that are given in the conflicts of the stories. Explaining each detail that is giving by the affection of that misfortune.
