Movie: Never Back Down The movie Never Back Down is an action/drama sports movie directed by Jeff Wadlow starring Sean Faris as Jake Tyler a rebellious teenager that often gets in fights especially after his fathers death. Then there is Amber Heard as Baja Miller that are the beautiful girl Jake Tyler falls in love with. And last but not least there is Djimon Hounsou as Jean Roqua that is a mixed martial arts master and becomes Jake Tyler’s trainer. The movie begins at Jake Tyler’s last football match of the year.
Since Jake and his family is moving due to his little brother that have been given a tennis scholarship, so they have to move from Ohio, Florida to Orlando, Florida. Jake is an American football player and at the last football match of the year Jake Tyler gets in a fight after a guy on the other team offends Jake by mocking him about his father’s death after a legally tackle. Later that day Jake’s mother talks to him about his fight on the football field that day since Jake’s trainer called her sending Jake into a silent rage.
After Jake Tyler and his little brother arrived in Orlando Jake says “We should not just continue driving? Mom would never miss us. ” Jake’s little brother replies with “She’d miss me. ” As a joke and I believe this hints you that Jake and his mother got a messy relationship and maybe Jake fells like his mother don’t love him and only care about his not to aggressive and kind little brother. On Jake’s first day in the new school he notice Baja in class and after the teacher ask Baja a philosophical question because she is not paying attention in class and Jake save her by telling the answer she thanks him after class.
Jake then ask if she can tell him the location of a classroom in a flirty, but kind way . While he is walking to the classroom minding his own business he walks pass a fight in a dark alley, when he notice the one guy getting crushed he walks in and try to stop the fight dodging a punch from the guy dominating the fight and following it up by delivering a punch back to the bully dazzling him for a while. This turns out to be the beginning of a strong relationship between Max Cooperman (the character getting dominated in the fight) and Jake.
By the end of Jake’s first day at school Baja invites him to a party, but Jake will soon find out that the only reason Jake were invited to the party was so the local mixed martial arts champion Ryan McCarthy could test Jake’s proficiency in fighting after a video clip of Jake fighting at his last football match of the year and as expected Jake gets dominated, but he showed hearth and never gave up resulting in him getting knocked unconscious and Max have to drag him home to his bed.
The day after this event Max wants to get Jake into training mixed martial arts because he says that Jake got something most does not have, he have the hearth of a fighter. Jake refuses for a while, but decide to pay the local mixed martial arts club a visit. In this club Jake get’s to know the mixed martial master Jean Roqua and become a good friend and training partner. When Jake is becoming better at this sport he hears about “The Beatdown” a tournament Ryan have won the last 3 years and Jake decides to sign up for this competition in hope of finally getting his revenge against Ryan.
This movie is by far one of the best sports movies I have seen not only being a good movie it also promotes mixed martial arts a fairly new sport that not to many know about (a sport I myself participate in). This movie may seem like a movie whit hot teenagers and people beating the crap out of each other, but that is as far from the truth you can come and it is only a plot to get people’s attention. This movie in my opinion is a movie about standing up for what u believe in and follow it trough.
As one of the sentences in the fight: Win or Lose. Everyone has their fight! This movie have not received any rewards at this date. This movie evolves around a hobbit named Frodo that journeys with his eight companions to the fires of mount doom to destroy an ancient ring that have belonged to Sauron to put an end to the evil in this world.
