I would like to continue pursuing a BS in Computer Science at New York University. My intention is to further my progress toward my future goals of one day of working with software for a major tech company. However, what makes New York University stand out over the other schools? And what was my reasoning to choose a degree in Computer Science.
I am currently attending Fairleigh Dickinson University to receive my BS in Computer Science. Deciding on a major was not easy since as it seemed to be for a highschool senior coming from an immigrant family. I felt I was under a lot of pressure on deciding what I wanted to study. Not having a clear idea on what I wanted to be was did not help, but I felt technology is what I had the closest connection to. Computer Science ultimately became my best option for my undergraduate studies due to the connection it has with technology and it is not limiting my options for a future career choice. While the classes may have showed how it is going to challenge me, it was a challenge I believed I could tackle in order to fulfill my ambitions.
Here are some final statements: For my career choices, my goal is be part of a software development process for a major tech company like Google as an example. I hope to be part of an organization that strives for progress and looks for people who are going to show a high skill set like myself. I see now the importance of internships as it is a great way to continue learning while gaining some experience from the real world. As for my long term goal, I hope to eventually move into sales engineering and be part of this fast paced diverse global economy that we have with the world.
In addition to my final statements, I realized the advantages that a large campus like New York University has to offer over a smaller school like Fairleigh Dickinson University. The life outside of academics seems much more lively and fulfilling over what I have at FDU. Also, NYU offers far more resources to explore my interests in the field of technology as well as my long terms plans in sales engineering. I see now New York University has a much broader span of faculty, diversity of students, and excellence in venues pertaining to various topics in fields like computer science over FDU. I hope to one day fulfill my dreams of being part of a major tech company.
