The Majority of Junk Food

Table of Content

You must wonder why junk food is bad for you, because it’s delicious, cheap and easy to consume. There is nothing wrong with eating at fast food restaurants, but you really need to think about what you are eating. Actually, as the name suggests, junk food is just pure junk. While it tastes great, it has very little nutritional content and it will cause some health issues in the near future. Eating too much junk food will probably cause obesity, mental problems, and disease.

First, junk food will cause people to become overweight, for what you are acquiring from junk foods is mere fat, not healthy ingredients. “2/3 of Americans are now either overweight or obese. If trends continue at the current rate, 100% of Americans will be overweight or obese by the year 2048” reported Researchers from the University of Oxford and Columbia University (Lancet Medical Journal 2011). Most obese kids have acquired their weight because of too much junk food intake.

And the majority of junk food does not deliver enough nutritional values; it’s also the reason for undernourishment. Hence, if you want to keep in shape and be healthy, you had better not choose junk food. Second, when you eat a junk meal, which is rich in oil, you will likely have mental and psychological problems. First, you may feel drowsy and lack of energy because junk food does not contain any nutrients that are beneficial to the human body.

Junk food is filled with harmful constituents that do not provide any useful energy, like carbohydrate and fat; thereby, causing weakness in the body. Also, junk food results in poor concentration, as it contains high amounts of oil and fat. “Junk food is made using a lot of saturated fats,” Amit Bhawani stated (“Effects of Junk Food” 2006). Thus, oil and fat make junk food difficult to digest and your body needs a higher amount of blood to the intestines. That’s the reason why you will fail to concentrate and be less focused with anything you undertake
