The Notebook is a great movie with such a great twist inserted in each part of the scene. The story began showing an old Duke man (James Garner) who starts to tell an old woman (Gena Rowlands) a story about two young lovers using his notebook. This old woman is slowly slipping her memory away as day goes by and she is staying in a nursing home during that time.
Scenes of the story that the old man tries to share to this old patient has been revealed. In the carnival setting in Seabrook Island, when a country boy named Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling) noticed Allie Hamilton (Rachel McAdams) who is an heiress, he fall in love at once and becomes obsessed of her. At first, Allie refuses his pushy advances but not until their friends lure them together.
The film gets intense when they are estranged by Allie’s parents who dislike Noah’s family, so Allie goes away. Allie meets handsome young soldier named Lon (James Marsden) as she wait for the letters of Noah which she didn’t receive because it’s been hidden from her until they get engaged. Noah heard the news and decided to restore the house where they used make future plans. Allie, then read a newspaper seeing the house so she visited it. That’s the time that Allie has to choose between her fiancé and her first love.
In the present scene, Duke is Allie’s (old woman) husband who is Noah in the story and he tells him their love story everyday as she is suffering from dementia. With stolen memory, Allie can’t even recognize children and grandchildren, who beg Duke to come home with them. He persists on staying with Allie. This very touching film is a tear-dropping movie which will linger in the heart and mind of those who will ever watch it.
