Why I Decided To Be A Nurse

Table of Content

Growing up people always asked,’ where do you see yourself in the future or what do you want to be when you grow up?’ I learned that in life no matter how perfect I plan my life; things don’t always work out as planned. We face obstacles that detour our path or lose passion in things that we had our heart set on. So, what are my plans for the next 20 years? In 20 years I will have completed my degrees, owned my own business, and traveled to foreign countries. The first thing I’m going to accomplish is completing my degrees. Originally, being a student in elementary school, I dreamed of becoming a cosmetologist because it allowed me to be myself and use creativity.

As I’ve become older, that career path for me has died out and I’m more focused on the medical field. I gained a passion that I never knew existed and didn’t see myself as wanting to take care of others. For example, cleaning up someone else’s bodily fluids use to be my biggest pet peeve. Now, body fluids have become second nature, but at times it still gross me out. But one day I will be that person who will depend on someone else, and I want them to have a genuine passion for the field. My overall goals are to become a mid-wife because I want to help someone else bring life into the world. I want to share a positive experience and be there for the mother during one of the most precious moments in life. As of now, I’m currently in school to become a nurse, and it’s the start of my journey.

After I receive all the proper certifications and education, I will own my business which will be a group home. I will get children out of the facilities and provide them a roof over their heads. I will give children a chance in life the same way I was given from my godparents when my parents never really existed in my life. I will have a tight knit relationship with the children as if I’m their biological mother, I will support and push all their dreams. When the child turns 18, he or she will have the option of going to college, finding a job, or joining the military. I will continue to support my future children in their endeavors and not treat them any different from mine. Lastly, I will be traveling the world to foreign countries to learn about different nationalities, cultures, and religions.

It’s so easy to read everything in a text book or research it on line, but I will be learning hands on. I will try traditional food as long as it’s not too weird and it’s cooked. I will attending storytelling events to learn more about the country in depth because not everything we read or see online are facts. Some of the countries I will be visiting will be Brazil, Egypt, Africa, and Greece, which will be my start. During my visit, I will also learn about their values, morals and even attempt to speak their native language. I will also shop their latest fashion and bring home souvenirs to remind me of a great journey I have traveled. In summary, through my journey to the future, I can honestly say I’m looking forward to my best life.

I will still be young, successful and have completed my goals in life. I will also have made a big difference in other peoples’ lives as well. I’ve learned if I step out on faith and speak things into existence, my life will fall right into place, but I have to stay determined and focus. No matter the obstacles I face now, in 20 years I will be able to look back and say “I made my future happen all because I knew who I was before I became who I am today”.
