Learning about historical events and people is important to learn from because we can keep America’s history alive. This is recognized in the play The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, the poem titled “Fear” by Eva Pickova and the poem “On Speaking Up for Each Other” by Martin Niemoller. Each of these readings focus on how doing something in life can really make a difference. The Diary of Anne Frank by Francis Goodrich and Albert Hackett is about a girl who goes into hiding with her parents and other friends.
She goes into hiding to hide from the Nazis. Hitler started it all by killing Jews. He was a bad man who wanted to get rid of Jewish people. While Anne was hiding they got to know each other more. But with desperate time comes desperate measures. They went through bad times and good times but, after 2 years into hiding they finally got caught. By the end only MR. Frank lived. The theme or important focus of this play is no matter what happens don’t forget who you really are. This can be found throughout the whole story.
This theme or important focus demonstrates how everyone has their own theme. The Poem titled “fear” by Eva Pickova is about a Jew that is experiencing the ghetto. The theme or important focus of this poem is to never give up. For example< the writer states “we want to work-We must not die! ”. This demonstrates that they rather work instead of die. The poem titled “On Speaking Up for Each Other” by Martin Niemoller is about a person who doesn’t help and ends up being taken without anyone left to speak up.
The theme is to help before it’s too late. For example “and by that time no one was left to speak up” because he dint speak up. In conclusion, history is important for us to learn about. Reading The Diary of Anne Frank and the poems “Fear” and “On Speaking Up for Each Other” illustrated the theme or idea that doing something in life can really make a difference. This shows me how learning about the past can affect the future and the way we live today.
