Short biography of Franz Kafka

Franz Kafka was born in Prague, Czech Republic on July 3, 1883. He was the eldest of six children born to Hermann and Julie Kafka. His father was a successful businessman and his mother was a homemaker. Kafka’s upbringing was strict, and he was often disciplined by his father. Kafka was an excellent student and graduated from the German Gymnasium in 1901. He then studied law at the University of Prague, where he earned his doctorate in 1906.After graduation, Kafka began working for an insurance company. He was not happy with his job, and he often felt bored and unfulfilled. In his spare time, Kafka began writing short stories and novels. He also became involved in the Zionist movement, and he even considered moving to Palestine.Kafka’s literary career began in 1912 with the publication of his first short story, “The Judgement.” His work was well-received by the public and by critics.

In the years that followed, Kafka published several more short stories and a novel, The Trial.Kafka’s health began to decline in 1917, and he was diagnosed with tuberculosis. He spent much of the next few years in and out of hospitals. In 1924, Kafka began a relationship with Dora Diamant, a young nurse. The couple moved to Berlin, but Kafka’s health continued to deteriorate. He died in 1924 at the age of 40.
