Her father, a former newspaper editor and proprietor, was the lawyer in whose office, when she was a child, she would sometimes listen to her father and his associates discuss their cases.Lee began writing To Kill a Mockingbird in 1957. The novel was published in 1960 and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1961.
