From the book “Four” by Veronica Roth, it is about the character Four and his story about how the choices he made is the reason why he is there now. It is about how Four has to make a series of choices and he finds out from the choices he has made there are consequences and rewards in return. The choices that are made now can affect what can happen in the future. As seen in the book “Four” it has explained how Four choose to be in a different fraction than the one he is in now. How Four choose to be a trainer than a leader, and finally how Four choose to get into other fractions business than mine his own.
Four choose to be in a different fraction than from the fraction he was born in. When Four turned to a certain age everyone has to decide and make a choice if they are going to stay in the fraction that they were born into, or if they’re going to leave their family and friends and go into a different fraction forever. So when it came to Four’s turn up on stage and decide what he is going to do he had to think a lot about what his next move was going to be ”Four opens his palm and with the dripping blood and put his hand over the coal and let the blood drop on the coal” (Roth, 31-32). From this quote in the book, the reason why he had to really think about the next decision he was going to make because if he chooses to stay in his born fraction he would be leaving staying with his dad a faction leader. In the future, Four would take over his dad’s place and be the new leader. If Four didn’t stay he would be leaving his father, but he knows that his father wasn’t the greatest guy on earth so, he would be leaving from his dad and being free than staying in a fraction with a person that disrespects him. He would be able to start a new life a life that he wants to live not the one his father wants him to. So Four deciding to leave his dad was a choice that can or will change his future.
After Four choose dauntless and choose to leave his dad he had to go through a lot of training. From all of the training he has done, there is a final test that decides if you make it in the fraction and if passed he becomes dauntless and there are jobs, the highest score gets the best job. Four was the 1st in his class and got the highest score so he had the choice to be a faction leader. In the book, it explained how Four was the first to be asked for being a fraction leader.” Four said back that he was better off being a trainer than a leader” (Roth, 189 ).If he choose to be a leader the amount of work to be put in it is a lot and Four didn’t want to deal with it he got of dauntless to start a new life with no problems, and if he is a leader he has to deal with his fraction problems and other fractions problems and that would be way to much for him. The other reason why he wouldn’t want to be a fraction leader is that he would have to see his father again. The reason why he left his born fraction was to get away from his father, so if he chooses to be a leader he would be seeing his father a lot more and would have to deal with a lot more problems and he didn’t want that. Since Four choose to be a trainer than a leader he avoided problems and him having to see his dad again, so the choice he made was a good choice.
Since Four didn’t choose to be a leader he needed a job, so he chooses to be in the control room. While in the control the Four and other people in there they are control of the security cameras and they are able to see everything. When Four was in the control room he noticed that the dauntless leader now was getting involved with another fractions business so he chooses to find out more about what is happening with his fraction and others fractions business. “ Four has asked to use his friend’s computer to look up what was happening in the room where the dauntless leader and the Erudite leader were and see if he could listen in and find out why they are in the same room together” (Roth). From the example above it showed on why four choose to get into others business. He wanted to know why Erudite faction leader Jeanne Matthews was doing in the Dauntless compound with the dauntless leader and what they could be talking about and why is his born fraction involved also. Soon after Four was working in the control room he started to think that there is something that going on with Erudite and Dauntless. He was thinking that there could be something really series that could happen in the future as a war between fractions. So Four getting into other fractions could be good because he could prevent a war and save everyone. But it also could be mad because if he can’t find any evidence that Dauntless and Erudite are planning something on other fractions he could get in a lot of trouble and be kicked out of his fraction. When someone couldn’t finish three fraction training or did something bad they go to factionless and that’s not the best place to be.
Throughout the book, it has shown how Four had to go through a series of choices and the choices that he made could have or will affect his future. It either changed his future in a good way or bad, it depends on the choices he made. Four choosing to be in dauntless, being a trainer than a leader, and Four choosing to get into other fractions business. Those choices that Four made has or will affect him in the future.
