There are so many reasons that same-sex marriage shouldn’t even be a discussion such as; marriage is or procreation, same-sex marriage isn’t the optimum environment to raise children, and same-sex marriage violates the sacred institution of marriage. Same-sex marriage is one Of the most talked about topics in the news and in today’s society because there are so many views about it and there are so many organizations for and against it. One issue that I have with it is that marriage is for procreation and when there is a couple of the same sex there is no natural way to reproduce.
Reproduction by definition is ‘the action or process of forming, creating, or bringing into existence again; and instance of his. ” The definition alone of reproduction tells you that there is no way that woman and a woman or a man and a man can reproduce and keep our society growing. Reproduction is what we were created to do as humans by God. After the flood, God commands Noah, (3)”As for you be fruitful and increase in number; multiply to the earth and increase upon it. ” There an old saying “God created Adam and Eve he did not make Adam and Steve. There is no logical way for a couple of the same sex to reproduce children into existence with adding science into play. Of course there are some couples hat look to artificial insemination, but that is playing God and doing something that is very unnatural. Even if artificial insemination comes into play the child most certainly wouldn’t be from both of the parents and this would only work if it was a same-sex woman and woman not same-sex man and man. Another point that want to make is that same-sex marriage isn’t the optimum environment to raise children.
There is a growing concern that if same-sex marriage is legalized it will send the message to people that opposite-sex and same-sex marriages are interchanger able. There has been search conducted on how raising a child in a heterosexual as opposed to a homosexual home and this research was conducted by William Means (dean of the College of Social Work at Ohio State) and Jonathan Reach (writer in residence in the Government Studies program at the Brooking Institution). There is no scientific basis for concluding that lesbian mothers or gay fathers are unfit parents on the basis of their sexual orientation… ” (2) There are many concerns that need to be addressed for children that are raised in a same-sex marriage. The children will be teased at school bother errs and have to constantly defend their “parents”. Kids today are still sometimes cruel and brutal to other kids and if there is anything that is out of the ordinary then most of the bullies will pick on the others.
Children will be brought up thinking that it is normal and natural for couples of the same-sex to be together and they will mostly likely follow in their parents’ footsteps. There are also the children that have one heterosexual parent and one homosexual parent and become very confused as to what is right and what they choose to believe. (1) When it comes to the children and their homosexual parent it will make it very difficult for the homosexual to have any resources to benefit the child. 2) For example, most of the insurances don’t recognize same-sex and will not allow them to carry the opposite one and if the child isn’t theirs but is for their partner then there is no way for the child to receive any type of benefits. Next, I would like to point out same-sex marriage violates the sacred institution of marriage. All Christians are raised having faith and believing in God that we are to follow his book that he created for us. The bible specifically states that same-sex relations much less marriage is a sin.
The book of Romans gives specific detail from God stating: [ (3) ]”26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them ever to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 9 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full Of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
Our country was founded on Christian beliefs and we have put God in everything that we believe in, so why should we bend the rules for this if it goes against everything that we are supposed to believe in. (4)Same-sex marriage could open a whole new world of sinful possibilities that don’t need to be thought of such as legalized incest, bestial marriage, polygamy, and many other horrible consequences. We could have a horrible outburst of Americans fighting for legalizing things that are also unnatural and sinful and we would have a very serious problem on our hands.
The bible clearly states that it is a sin to be in a homosexual relationship and it also tells us for wives to be with our husbands. 1 Peter states [ (3) ] ‘Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives,” There is no doubt in my mind what God wants and expects from us as his people and truly believe that continuing to legalize marriage in other state will only open a door of serious problems for us in the future.
We need to fix things while there is still time and room to fix it. Now that we can’t control who people love, but it needs to be left to that and not brought out so much that we are allowing them to share the same benefits as married couples do. All in all same-sex marriage is devastating to our children, our society, and our country. Many states have taken a stand and have banned same-sex marriage and were quick to do it when a few states allowed it. 1)There are still some states that are fighting to get it and there are some that are already allowing it. The ones that are allowing it are having couples from all across he country come into their state and get married under their law and then return to their state where it isn’t recognized. In conclusion, our country was founded on Christian beliefs and since the beginning of time marriage has always included one woman and one man.
