The discovery of X-ray runs down to the late 1896 when Roentgen discovered the practical significance of this technology in the diagnosis of diseases and alleviation of pain. The term x-rays comes from the fact that there was a discovery from other unknown rays given that it is usually conducted in dark places. X-ray was discovered in the 1800’s and there were later developments in 1900’s, though at slow pace on films, intensifying and fluoroscopic imaging. Further developments led to transmit ion of radiograph images to distant places through phone wires thus making it possible for people in region to receive the service. Later development was done which saw improvements in transmitting of images from telephone, fiber optics, coaxial cable and microwave which produce quality images (Cullinam, A & Cullinan R, nd). However, the technology was associated with a number of hazards given that at first caution was not taken which led to deaths and traumas to pioneers until lead screens were introduced to counter the effects of radiation during the new X-ray era.
In essence, the article is of great value to this generation especially in the medical profession so that more study should be made in order to improve the performance of X-ray. This will help in avoiding any harm that may be caused by radiation to ignorant patients. The concentration of the practice in the hands of radiographers helped to avoid serious harm to people who used to expose themselves to radiation just for fun. In conclusion, despite the hazards which were as a result of ignorance, the discovery of x-ray plays a crucial role especially in medical centers (Cullinam, A & Cullinan R, nd). Patients are easily diagnosis of internal problems by radiographers thus enabling better health care. Radiology has come a long way to where it is currently, from scientific use to medical care where it is applied in determining the extent of injuries on bones and skull.
