The symptoms and warning signs of binge eating disorder identify from emotional, behavioural to physical which includes consuming large quantity of food in a short period of time, stomach cramps, stress, hormonal irregularities, traumatic situations, inability to concentrate, being uncomfortable in the mist of people while eating, weird eating methods, constant diets, swing in weight, stealing of food, low self esteem and eating alone out of embarrassment.

The effects of binge eating disorder (BED) are adverse with chronic clinical health problems like obesity, weight stigma and yo-yo dieting ( weight cycling). High achieving women although self explanatory comes with it’s own traits like a strong desire to succeed. As Psychology Today perfectly explains, “they are willing to expend intense effort over long timespans in pursuit of their goals. High achieving women are most prone to eating disorders and mostly binge eating disorders (BED), this is solely traced to the stress acquired from society’s fight for gender equality with female knowing well that they still have to fight harder in their respective fields of discipline. This unlimited fight to justify the female spot at the table can result in unbelievable stress, a distorted self-concept, and no time for positive self-care.

Untamed and continuously mounting stress is the main risk main and coincidental factor for BED as well as an unfortunate consequence of high-achieving personalities. Treatments for binge eating disorders (BED) include psychotherapy treatment, medications and behavioural weight loss programs.

One of the most important treatment is the use of medications. Lisdexamfetamine dimesylate (Vyvanse), a drug for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, is one the first medication for mild to chronic case of BED approved by the FDA, though this maybe abused to some point. Several other types of Medication may help like; Topiramate (Topamax), an anticonvulsant and antidepressants. The use of these drugs can reduce if not eradicate the case of binge eating disorders (BED).
