In my opinion, recycling is the most effective method for improving our planet’s condition. Unfortunately, recycling isn’t as popular nowadays as it should be. There are numerous individuals who fail to understand that recycling is not only important for the present but also for the future.

Recycling is a commonly used term that refers to converting used materials into new products in order to conserve resources and energy.

These materials include papers, tin cans, aluminum cans, bottles, broken computers, cars, scrap iron, plastic, batteries, and electrical machines.

According to environmentalists, the average person produces 2 kilograms of waste per day. At present, recycling and composting are considered the top approaches for reducing waste. In my opinion, the most valuable advantage of recycling is its contribution to reducing new material usage and conserving resources for future generations. For instance, instead of using wood to make paper, recycled paper can be used. Moreover, recycling helps to decrease air and water pollution. The burning process during waste disposal releases smoke and a significant amount of carbon dioxide, which pollutes the atmosphere. Research has shown that recycling can effectively reduce annual carbon dioxide emissions by 10-15 tons.

Reducing waste

According to the American Forest and Paper Association, recycling paper can reduce paper waste and slow down the filling of landfills. They estimate that saving 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space is possible by recycling one ton of paper.

More Trees

The USEPA states that recycling one ton of paper can save fifteen to seventeen trees from being cut down. Trees are important for absorbing and storing carbon dioxide, so the size of the forest affects how much carbon dioxide is removed. Conversely, cutting down trees for paper production releases more greenhouse gases.

Energy & Water

Mills that transform paper waste into new paper require less energy and resources compared to mills that use fresh wood. Recycling mills typically consume approximately 50% less water and 40% less energy. Producing a single ton of standard office paper using recycled paper saves 4,000 kilowatts of energy and 7,000 gallons of water. The decision to recycle ultimately depends on you, taking into account both the economic and environmental impacts. Either you choose to recycle due to the environmental implications or because of the financial benefits. Our world is currently heading towards an environmental catastrophe and recycling is one of the most effective ways for ordinary individuals like you and me to help prevent it. After considering all the advantages of recycling… WILL YOU RECYCLE?
