1.) Love – In ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ love is shown in many different ways: the love between friends, between family members and between a teenager and his first big crush. Feelings, and how to express them, are confusing for anyone, but Charlie has an exceptionally difficult time with it. 2.) Friendship – I really liked how friendship plays an important part of Charlie’s life. His only friend Michael had committed suicide and Charlie was still coping with the loss of his friend, but when Patrick and Sam took him under their wing and introduced him their group, they had helped him come out of his shell more and become less of a wallflower.
