The drive is an American action thriller film directed by Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn in 2011. The script, written by Hossein Amini, is centered on the novel Drive by James Sallis 2005. The cast includes Ryan Gosling as an unidentified Hollywood stunt driver who shines as a getaway driver. The film was made on a production budget of around $15 million and filmed in different parts of Los Angeles, beginning on September 25, 2010. The positions were selected by Refn when Gosling was driving him around the city at night. At the request of the director, Los Angeles was chosen as the location of the shooting due to funding constraints. The opening chase sequence, involving Gosling’s character, was filmed primarily by Refn in the interior of the car. The scene was filmed in low angles with limited light.
