How the Grinch Stole Christmas By: Dr. Suess
Inquiry question: A community is a social group of any size whose members reside in a specific locality, share government, and often have a common cultural and historical heritage.
Set up question for the book: The important part of a celebration is when you are celebrating any religious event or a plain celebration with your family or friends. So having spirit and having fun celebrating.
1. (Text) The Whos in Whoville thought that the spirit of celebrating Christmas was more important than a bunch of presents.
I know that because towards the end of the story, when the Grinch stole all the Who’s presents. The Who’s didn’t care at all, instead they gathered around in a circle and sang a jolly song. Those made the Grinch realize what Christmas is really about. (Celebrating together, with family and friends)
2. (Text) The Grinch thought that taking away the Who’s presents will stop Christmas from coming, because at that time he didn’t know what Christmas was really about.
He thought that Christmas was all about getting presents and being greedy.
3. (Self+Text) Something that made me change was when I first started to play chess, I always lost to my dad and I always got sad and gave up. Through playing chess with my dad, I learned that playing against someone more skilled than you can help you mentally and in chess, I also learned to never give up. Whenever I played with my dad, I then started to use different kinds of tactics and strategies, and at the end I actually beat my dad. So the main message that my dad thought me was to never give up. Knowing the message right now, I feel good about myself and now I don’t give up in hard tasks.
4. (Text+World) The welcoming of the Whos was a sign of forgiveness toward the Grinch. I think this is similar to the second chances people give when someone makes a tremendous mistake. In my community people are very strict when it comes to crossing the line, but, the.
