“1984” Novel: Hitler vs. Big Brother

Table of Content

Orwell, the author of 1984, showed similarities between all tolitarian regimes, one of them is the one Adolf Hitler ruled. Hitler was a dictator just like Big Brother. They all have different ways to rule their government, but all with the same purpose, they love the power, they like to feel superior. They manipulate to have a pure party. Big Brother was a mirror image of Hitler in many aspects. Both dictators had the leadership ideals, the propaganda techniques, the secret police and many other manipulative ways to influence everyone.

Hitler and B. B ruled with no tolerance of opposition. Big Brother’s plans were a success to have a powerful state. Adolf Hitler, concerned himself more with spreading a feeling of pride to get to the pure party that he wishes so much. Hitler influenced people to think and accept that his party was the most powerful and superior. Both used propaganda techniques to get into people’s minds since they were little kids. Big Brother used the Two Minute Hate to glorify him, to declare him a hero, and also to declare capitalismo unnaceptable.

Everyone would see that and agree. Although Hilter used something different, he controlled the films and decided what could be shown or not. All films creating oposition against the party were not allowed and possibly destroyed. These techniques were vey sucessful but there were still some oposition that the Secret Police would take care of. Hitler’s secret police had an objective that was to strike fear to everyone so they destroyed homes, families and only by assumptions, if you were a suspect, your life would be a nightmare.

Big Brother used his secret police against thoughtcrime, if you think of something and the telescreen get it, you’re done, your life is over. Adolf also commanded the genocide of the Jews and Arabes because he wanted a pure party and the Jews were a “threat”, and because he wanted a superior race, only germans were supposed to be alive. Big Brother i salso known because of the telescreen that is everywhere monitoring everyone at all times. Is a big telescreen that hears and sees everything you do, any movement, anything.

This telescreen is a way to control the people and what they are doing. But not if isn’t enough, B. B trained kids to be alert. He trained kids in military aspects and the kids were taught to spy and report any opposition by anyone, even from their family. Everywhere you look you’ll see the Big Brother watching you. It makes people fear, its a reminder that he is the boss, he demands and he rules this government, he can do eveything he wants just because he feels like doing it.

Another thing to accomplish the pure party is to declare the government the only thing that is right, it determines either if its right or wrong and you’ll believe it. For that to happen Hitler changed historical facts as well as documents, making his party as the only correct party to try to accomplish it. Big Brother used the unpersons program, that its changing historical facts and if there is a traidor they would make him an unperson, he no longer exists and the party is the only correct, the party did the right thing, the party rewrite history to not show their weakness.

Hitler and B. B were feared and that’s why no one ever question their authority. As Hitler said once: “The government will brutally beat down all who oppose it. We do not say an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. No, he who knock out one of our eyes will get his head chopped off, and he who knocks out one of or teeth will get his jaw bashed in. ” Both Hitler and Big Brother have ways to brainwash the youth into following them. The kids were programmed to only understand the party, prolonging the parties pure existence by influencing the next generations.

Kids grow up living the way that their dictator had designed and for the rest of their lives they will be faithful and remain loyal, thinking that it’s the right thing to do because it’s the only way that they know, it just seems like the right thing to do. These tactics are cruel because they have no way of knowing what is really happening, they aren’t aware. All the dictators think alike, wanting a pure party, having secret police to help them accomplish and use kids to influence the next generations, and other ways of controlling the way people think and act.

Dictators like to feel superior and to be in the power, that’s why they create their own government, to rule everyone, creating a party that its so powerful that its not even possible to happen because of opositions. Hitler and Big Brother had some intelligent strategies, the Nazi Germany couldn’t last and Orwell showed a negative utopia that a dictator government might turn into in his novel. 1984 and Nazi Germany had a lot in common but also some differences that could break either one of the parties down.
