When I found out that there was a paper due on having to take a bubble bath with a rubber duck, I was thinking, “why? How very odd but okay, I guess I’ll do it. ” Then I found out that we had to bring the rubber duck to school and I was like, “really? Uhm… Okay then. I’ll have to pass by wal-mart on my way home then. ” So, I eventually got around to doing the bubble bath. I put way my cell phone, my laptop & told everyone not to bother me unless they were dying of some kind of disease.

I turned the hot water on, poured some lavender scented bubbles, threw my rubber ducky in and I had myself a little party. I started to relax and just play with the rubber duck and the suds, it reminded me a lot of when I was little and I use to take baths with my sister and my baby cousin. We would be playing with the bubbles- blowing the suds at each other and the soap would go everywhere. Boy, did we leave a mess for our grandma to clean up and ha-ha, she was definitely not a happy camper. It also reminded me of when I was 12 and I had to have surgery on my tail bone and it got really infected.

My doctor told me I had to take a bath with Epsom salt for a week straight until it got better. It feels great remembering all those silly little things that I hadn’t thought about in a long time. In fact, it’s nice to relax and “me time” period. It’s very true how people don’t have enough time to just sit around and have some time to themselves. I can only imagine how parents or newlyweds who just had a baby feel. It’s like you have all this time to yourself, you can watch TV, take a nap, go do your nails and hair and then all of a sudden you’re responsible for another life.

All that “alone time” you once had is now gone and your focus is around that life that is depending on you to bath it, feed it, change it, love it… it’s a massive responsibility that you have to be willing to take on. I’m lucky because I don’t have those responsibilities just yet. I get to live my life. I get to go to school, hang out with my friends, go out to parties and just be a young adult, while others are taking care of a kid and never having a single moment to dedicate to themselves.

So taking this bubble bath has definitely made me realize that I need to appreciate the time that I have to myself and not be so wrapped around things and not to act like a chicken with my head cut off because I need to get things done in a hurry. I’m glad I went to Wal-Mart to buy the rubber ducky. It’s a great feeling to have my “me time” and remember those cute memories, that I hope one day in the far but near future I will share with my child.
