The different horse fashion represents different characteristics, quality, personality, and features of each character in the story. It also highlighted the importance of this animal in their living specifically in the aspects of monetary. Once the horses are gone, it means to say that they are financially broke. In general the use of animal imagery symbolizes life (“Use of Imagery in D.H. Lawrence’s the Horse Dealer’s Daughter:”).
Life has been the focus of Darwin’s Theories specially the idea of survival of the fittest. It is a game of survival, a competition, or a pre-dominance. The one’s who survive are those who adjust and adapt with the current situation (“Survival of the Fittest “). Our way of living can be described as survival. You have to do actions in order to live in this world full of competition. Competition can be in terms of power, space, food, clothing, etc. It can also be related to economics. The predominant countries acquire most of the world’s wealth. They are the one’s who monopolizes the production and the third world countries serve as the prey. They serve as the market of the manufacturers. In the end, the rich become richer and the poor becomes poorer. The animal imagery used in the short story can be viewed as representation of what is happening in reality. It is the scenery of the real world.
