The Holocaust occurred in 1933; it was mainly about Adolf hitler, a dictator that wanted to kill jews because there were too many. They would punish or kill jewish families for no reason some families would get burned together, shot, or poisoned. The harsh thing about this is that the reader would see their loved ones die and see other people die everyday by the hands of officers.
The Holocaust also had concentration camps were Jewish people would work, sleep, and eat. The holocaust went over 22 years which made it a very terrifying, horrible, tragic years for the jews. When the holocaust ended they kill about 6 millions jews, but in 22 years about 27,000 people died each year. In Night by Elie Wiesel conveys that spending time with family should be the most important time of one’s life. The most harshful thing is not have family member in hard time when you need them the most. ‘There was a woman among us, a certain Mrs. Schächter. She was in her fifties and her ten-year-old son was with her, crouched in a corner. Her husband and two older sons had been deported with the first transport by mistake. Madame Schächter was afraid because most of her family like her husband and two kids got deported and only had one person to support her and keep her going.. Imagine having just your 10 year old son with you, someone who can barely support himself, and yet there he was trying to take care of his mother.Families are to protect each other, and support each other in anything and provide for their needs. Madame Schächter only had one only one support which was her youngest son, and her whole other family was deported so She felt afraid without her other family which was far away from her “My father’s presence was the only thing that stopped me. He was running next to me, out of breath, out of strength, desperate. I had no right to let myself die. What would he do without me? I was his sole support.”
Elie Father Cholmo is depending that Elie would be with him through the whole journey until he can survive. Elie Father never had time to spend time with Elie he would be a worker man he was a boss of a business. Elie now had to see his Father die when he was spending time with him, the only time he spend time or talk to his dad was the most dreadful time in history.
