At some point in life, everyone experiences a sense of unfairness and the need for change. It is crucial to voice complaints or arguments to facilitate this desired transformation. Personally, I have encountered situations where complaining was necessary to make a difference. Historical evidence further supports the efficacy of complaining in driving changes. In my freshman year of high school, I had an inflexible science teacher who displayed stubbornness and believed she seldom erred.
While checking my grades online, I came across a zero score on one of my lab reports. After thoroughly reviewing all my lab reports, I found it strange that none of them had received a zero mark. Recognizing the error in the grade given by my teacher, I knew I needed to bring up the issue and express my complaint. Although approaching her made me nervous due to the fear of reprimand, I gathered the courage to explain that she had mistakenly entered the wrong grade. At first, she denied making any such mistake.
Despite initial resistance, my grade was eventually adjusted after presenting my lab reports with nonzero marks. By advocating for fairness, I successfully raised my average score by eight points. Had I not spoken up and expressed my dissatisfaction, my grade would have considerably declined, much to the disappointment of my parents. This highlights the importance of voicing concerns. Historical examples further illustrate this significance – Martin Luther King Jr., a fervent advocate against racial discrimination, fought tirelessly for equality.
Driven by his strong determination to fight for the fair treatment of his people, he expressed his grievances and advocated for his beliefs. His impactful speeches and activism gained considerable attention and a large following. Thanks to his unwavering dedication, persistent protests, and struggles, King brought about crucial changes in the history of Black Americans. Without his vocal opposition to racial discrimination and injustice, Black Americans would have endured an extended period of oppression and segregation.
Due to King’s fight and complaints, Black Americans were able to have hope for their future. It is valuable to fight for necessary change. My experience of complaining about my grade, along with King’s fights against racism, demonstrates that complaining is not pointless but rather useful in bringing about change. In Maya Angelo’s quote essay, “By teacup,” I received a zero on one of my lab reports. Finding this strange, I made arguments against the teacher and complained about the incorrect grade she gave me. Eventually, she complied and adjusted my grade accordingly. I fought for my unfair treatment, aiming for equality with the same fervor as King fought for his people who were treated unjustly during long periods of oppression and segregation.
Despite King’s struggle and grievances, it is valuable to fight for necessary changes. both my personal experience of complaining about my grade and King’s efforts to combat racism demonstrate that complaining can be productive in effectuating transformations.
